What is VERBIS?
VERBIS (Data Controllers’ Registry Information System) is a registration system under Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698, in which data controllers are obliged to notify their data processing activities. All data controllers must register with this system in accordance with specific criteria. These criteria were defined by the Turkish Personal Data Protection Board’s Decision No. 2018/88 as follows:

Employee Count or Financial Balance Sheet Criteria

Those with more than 50 employees annually
Those with an annual balance sheet total exceeding 100 million TRY

2.Entities Whose Main Activity Involves Processing Special Categories of Personal Data

Real and legal persons whose main field of activity is the processing of special categories of personal data, even if their employee count or balance sheet total falls below the above thresholds

3.Data Controllers Residing Abroad

Data controllers residing outside Türkiye who process personal data of individuals located in Türkiye are required to appoint a representative in Türkiye and must register to VERBIS.
